Below you find a (long) list of roles and tasks that need to be assigned.

Diversity Den & Pup-n-Cup Volunteer Task List 

 

1. Fundraising & Donations 

Goal: Help raise money and gather resources to support our programs, events, and café setup. 

Tasks: 

  • Visit local businesses for prize donations (raffles, draws, volunteer and member gifts) 

  • Request donation of an outdoor sign (vinyl, wood, or metal preferred) ​

  • Reach out to potential sponsors for cash donations to support community programs 

  • Help create a simple fundraising flyer or digital campaign to share online and in person 

  • Assist with organizing online fundraising events (raffle, auction, donor wall) 

  • Track all donors and donations in a spreadsheet or shared doc 

 

2. Café & Den Setup, Décor, and Outdoor Planters 

Goal: Create a welcoming, accessible, and functional space inside and outside the café/Den. 

Tasks: 

  • Help move and set up café furniture and seating layout 

  • Decorate café walls with inclusive artwork or community art (or help hang!) 

  • Create and install a community bulletin board 

  • Source or build planter boxes for outside and fill with flowers or herbs 

  • Help with accessibility improvements (ramp ideas, door signage, etc.) 

  • Source décor or donations of items like art, plants, lamps, storage bins 

 

3. Suppliers & Inventory Prep 

Goal: Source affordable, reliable suppliers and prepare the first month of café & program supplies. 

Tasks: 

  • Research and compare 2–3 supplier options for: 

  • Coffee/tea 

  • Cups/lids/sleeves 

  • Pastries or frozen snacks 

  • Cleaning supplies 

  • Paper goods (napkins, etc.) 

  • Training supplies (clickers, leashes) 

  • Organize quotes into a spreadsheet 

  • Contact suppliers for potential nonprofit or bulk discounts 

  • Help place and track first 30-day order 

  • Create a labeled storage system or inventory list (e.g., backstock shelving) 

  • Review supplier delivery times, pickup logistics, etc. 

 

4. Website & Online Store Support 

Goal: Complete setup of Square store and both Diversity Den & Pup-n-Cup websites. 

Tasks: 

  • Finalize Square Online store items, photos, and pricing 

  • Test Square checkout for accessibility (non-speaking, blind, or Deaf-friendly) 

  • Add “Order Notes” or Accessibility message to checkout page 

  • Help choose layout/design features (fonts, colors, menu flow) 

  • Check all links and pages for mobile/tablet use 

  • Add event calendar 

  • Upload blog posts, membership info, or café menus 

  • Provide suggestions or feedback from a user perspective 

 

5. Admin, Scheduling, and Volunteer Systems 

Goal: Get systems in place to manage volunteers, accounting, and daily operations. 

Tasks: 

  • Research and recommend free/low-cost accounting software (e.g., Wave, QuickBooks for Nonprofits, TechSoup discounts) 

  • Help import current volunteer list, assign tasks/schedules 

  • Design a simple volunteer task calendar or weekly planner 

 

6. Volunteer Baristas & Cleaners 

Goal: Recruit and train volunteers to help operate the café and keep the space welcoming. 

Tasks: 

  • Greet customers, take orders, and operate Square POS (training provided) 

  • Make basic beverages (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, smoothies) 

  • Clean tables, sweep/mop floors, sanitize surfaces 

  • Restock café supplies (cups, condiments, straws, etc.) 

  • Assist with café closing tasks (fridge check, counters wiped, garbage out) 

  • Keep a calm, inclusive vibe for all patrons — all abilities welcome 

  • Help with accessibility for customers (carry orders, read menu aloud) 

7. Diversity Den Society

Goal: Start creating programming in - art, music, digital literacy

  • ​Plan the paint the plant pot event.

  • Programming coordinator and support
